lily street blair athol

Adelaide's inner-northern suburb Blair Athol has become a developer's paradise, with many older homes on large allotments being rapidly replaced by unassuming two story blocks of units.
Notwithstanding the ambience of numerous parks & the many jacaranda lined streets, these properties are more affordable than those in the leafy inner eastern & southern suburbs, and with close proximity to the CBD, budget conscious buyers, including a noticeable influx of migrants from South Asia, are moving in. The booming Chatkazz vegetarian restaurant on nearby Hampstead Road is testament to this changing demographic.
Hiding opposite the extensive 4.68 ha Blair Athol Recreational Reserve and facing west is this remarkable front garden in Lily Street. Lush green all year round, careful plant selection has proved that, with planning, patience & a hose, the tropical Bali look can be achieved here despite the harsh climate.
The second pic shows a Google street image captured for 8 Lily St  in 2022. The change in just three years is remarkable. Three large Gleditsia Shademaster [?]  trees provide essential shade for a stunning collection of plants.
