desal

"Regarding the resurrection of the Adelaide desalination plant, I have serious concerns.

As I live on the southern Yorke Peninsula , I am more than aware of the devastating effect this drought is having on our state.

However, also because of my location, I recall with horror the last time our desal plant ran at full capacity. It was in 2012 and the results of the brine being pumped into our peninsula was a mass die off of shellfish.

This in turn resulted in sea creatures suffering with many dolphins found dead on beaches, one by myself at Stansbury.

I can only hope the technology at the plant has been upgraded to prevent this ever happening again". Leonie Wilson, Stansbury

  1. The author's concerns are entirely reasonable and worth considering. Human activities always impact the ecosystem, which is a troubling issue. Solving this problem requires a greater sense of ecological responsibility and sometimes sacrificing certain things, including human interests. However, I still believe that this is not just a difficult real-world issue but also a complex moral dilemma that is hard to balance.
