I think this matter can also be understood as a contradiction between "aesthetics of the useless" and "pragmatism." From the perspective of the former, we can see it as bringing imagined sci-fi aesthetics and a cyberpunk future closer to reality, where even the interstellar debris from a rocket launch appears dreamlike and beautiful. However, from the latter’s viewpoint, many pressing issues on Earth—such as environmental problems, poverty, and the quality of human life—remain unresolved. Yet, people are filled with passion for the unknown and the future rather than focusing on solving present challenges.
